Testimonials

Indonesian Breakfast

Since Dollar-a-Day 2023, Indonesian Breakfast has provided 3,500 breakfasts for 40 underprivileged teens and a handful of neglected children. It also provides a livelihood for a low-income widow who cooks the breakfasts. Thanks so much for your support of the Indonesian Breakfast program!"

"One girl in our mentorship program, Kaila*, in particular, complained of feeling faint during school and found it hard to focus. The feeling was shared by others in the program, which motivated us to start the breakfast program. Kaila, though she dropped out of school in 4th grade, was able to go back to school through our sponsorship in 7th grade. Praise God, she has been faithfully attending school for the past 6 years and has just graduated high school! Pray for her to get a good job to support her family. Her mother and step father work as garbage pickers/sorters.

Kids Kapers

This past summer, Kid's Kapers camps enabled six MoveIn teams in Canada to host week-long kid camps. Most of the kids attending are newcomers and refugees in Canada.

One such camp was hosted by MoveIners in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. It was the team's first year running a Kid's Kapers camp and about 50 children attended the first day. One lady, Sandra*, was particularly grateful for the camp and called the MoveIners the "Community People." She thanked them for telling their children God’s story. With her trust, many other Somalian families began to attend.  On the last day, the team hired Sandra's family to cater a meal for 100 people. There was barely enough food for everyone. What an impact in the community!

Here are some more stories from MoveIners who helped with camps in their patches:

"I'm really encouraged to see families engaging alongside their kids. I think that's really powerful to see kids coming to camp with their families also sticking around to support and participate."

"One mom kept coming up to offer her help when she saw us preparing things. 'I have no words,' she said about her appreciation for the camp."

One MoveIner felt increased openness with a neighbour on her floor whose child was attending camp. The neighbour is often a bit cautious. "It's a big breakthrough. I've never had that level of trust with her before."

MOzaik Lushnje

“Our MoveIn team in Albania runs a vibrant after-school ministry focused on supporting Roma children. These children are sadly neglected and bullied at school, even by their teachers, because of their ethnicity and poverty. The daily after-school program helps them not fall through the cracks through help with homework, providing one of their main meals each day and teaching them that they are each treasured by God.

The funds we received from Dollar-a-Day were a big blessing to our ministry. We were able to use the funds given to make every child’s birthday special. We were able to afford cake and put together a party for every student who had a birthday during the school year.”
